Wrestling Society X do plan on using the women a bit more in Season Two. There are plans to have a women's division in the next season. WSX has Lacey, Sara Del Ray and Mickie Knuckles under contract. They'll probably bring in a few more indy girls to help fill out the division. They also have another trained wrestler in the form of former UPW Women's Champion Lizzy Valentine, although she hasn't wrestled in about two years and they may be content with her simply managing Matt Sydal. The plan would be for them to do "SHIMMER-style" matches, which would be serious women's wrestling. Although, while "SHIMMER-style" is the idea, the company is also thinking about doing a complete 180 on the side by featuring some "GLOW-like segments" as well. GLOW was a professional wrestling promotion for women in the 80's and it was more sports entertainment-based. It was frowned upon by the serious women's wrestlers at the time as the promotion would also feature performers who were actresses or adult film stars. The promotion also featured a lot of campy, sexy, over-the-top comedy sketches, so that seems to be what WSX may be going for should they do some out-of-the-ring segments with the ladies.

Currently MTV is experiencing a major shakeup amongst network executive personnel. Whether related to this factor or solely to a decision made by MTV Standards and Practices Department, the station has decided to pull Wrestling Society X's fourth episode from the air next week. In its place will air a program called "Scarred."
It is believed that MTV higher-ups were uncomfortable with a stunt that was scheduled to air on next week's episode involving Rickey Banderas throwing a fireball in the face of WSX champion, Vampiro. They feared that children would try the stunt at home.
Now also coming into question is the future of WSX being aired in a time-slot that goes head-to-head with ECW. Amid the corporate shakeup, Paul DeBenedittis was amongst those let go. DeBenedittis was responsible for placing WSX in the existing time-slot. Time will tell if a move is made. MTV is contracted to show 10 taped Wrestling Society X episodes.
Wrestling Society X is currently scheduled to return on Tuesday 2/27 at 10:30 PM

The Big Show's current contract with WWE expires late this month. He was offered a renewal that was believed to be around the same amount he had on his previous contract (around a $1 million a year downside). However, he turned that down because he was burned out and hurting physically. It should also be noted that WWE offered Big Show a large amount of money to retain his intellectual property rights, meaning he couldn't wrestle anywhere else or get involved in any projects where his likeness was utilized, but that WWE would own the rights to his likeness. Well, he turned that down as well. While TNA isn't considered a likely option at this time, it is an option in the future if both sides were interested.

The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that Rob Van Dam's contract with World Wrestling Entertainment will be expiring at the end of this summer. The six month mark came last week where he had to indicate to the company if he wanted the contract to automatically renew. According to sources, RVD opted to stop the auto-rollover, meaning he has to renegotiate his deal and renew or else he will become a free agent starting in September of 2007.
In regard to details of his current deal with WWE, he was estimated as being under a downside guarantee of around $400,000 a year. He earned that much while sitting out with an injury (which was said to be around $7,500 per week). When he returned from injury, he changed his payment method based on the shows he worked thinking he would earn more per week that way. Instead, a wide range of payments followed. With ECW not drawing well by itself for House Show and PPV events, RVD's weekly paychecks saw a dramatic decrease. In the end however, it didn't really matter since at the end of the contract year he will end up receiving a "make-good" check for however short his combined weekly pay was.
It should be noted that RVD is currently running the risk of WWE not offering him a downside guarantee as high as they had previously agreed on by not letting his contract roll over. One main reason he is considering leaving WWE right now, which isn't big news for those who have followed the story, is that he is unhappy with the current direction of ECW and how it has been portrayed creatively. While sources close to RVD say he values money, he also takes pride in his work and hasn't felt good about it lately. This is why it is very possible he could accept less money to jump to TNA and work fewer dates. With top stars such as Sting earning around $500,000 per year in TNA, it is believed that TNA could offer RVD a deal for around $250,000. While that is a significant decrease from what he was earning in WWE, in turn he would work fewer dates per month and have more creative satisfaction with his role. The only downside would be burning a bridge with WWE should he want to return in the future.
At 37 years old, sources close to Rob Van Dam say he may do one of three things: allow his deal with WWE to expire and jump to TNA, re-sign with WWE because the money is better or allow WWE to retain his intellectual property rights and sit on that for a year or two before making a decision about his wrestling career. Either way, we will continue to follow this situation as it develops.
